Developer Studio

The Information Transformation Layer is configurable through an intuitive graphical user interface, Developer Studio, allowing rapid application development instead of time-consuming integration scripting. This interface also manages configuration such as search tuning and defining navigation options.

Extending the Information Transformation Layer (ITL)

A software development kit (SDK) is also available to develop content adapters for systems that Endeca has not previously integrated.

Extending the MDEX Engine

Business logic can be added to the MDEX Engine in the form of stored procedures written in XQuery, which are then exposed to applications as custom web services. Plug-ins at the engine level have numerous advantages over application logic, including re-usability, lower maintenance costs, and superior performance by minimizing round-trips between the server and the user application to complete queries.

Extending the Business Tools

Out-of-the-box page layout templates allow users to configure pages for a variety of application scenarios. Layout and cartridge sets can both be extended through simple XML definitions.
