Endeca Announces Agreement With SAP, Through Which It Will Deliver Information Visibility to the Enterprise

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – October 26, 2009 – Endeca Technologies, Inc., a search applications company, today announced it has expanded its relationship with SAP AG (NYSE:SAP), the business intelligence (BI) market leader. Under the terms of the OEM agreement, Endeca will integrate Xcelsius® software and SAP® BusinessObjects™ Intelligent Search software into the Endeca Information Access Platform for faster and easier deployment of search applications and query federation inside the enterprise.

“Putting data in context to improve daily decisions is the Holy Grail for CIOs and their executive peers,” said Bruce Richardson, chief research officer at AMR Research. “Endeca is taking a fundamentally new approach to accessing and analyzing enterprise-wide data. By marrying Endeca’s search applications with SAP’s rendering and visualization tools, customers can more quickly and easily leverage enterprise information for better daily decision-making.”

Based on the open application-programming interfaces (APIs) of the McKinley release of the Endeca Information Access Platform, Endeca will integrate Xcelsius dashboards and visualization software and SAP BusinessObjects Intelligent Search with the Endeca platform to provide an intuitive way for business analysts to create data visualizations within search applications. This will provide employees with the clarity and insight to make more effective business decisions, even when working with large volumes of complex information. This straightforward approach to building analytics-intensive search applications means improved efficiency for IT organizations and reduced deployment time, leading to increased productivity and reduced costs across the value chain.

“The Endeca Information Access Platform integrated with SAP BusinessObjects BI solutions provides customers visibility into enterprise-wide assets,” said Peter de Verteuil, vice president, North America OEM Sales, BusinessObjects Division. “We look forward to working with Endeca to help its customers optimize business performance and improve decision-making through the use of our powerful, easy-to-use and interactive visualization tools.”

Instant Visibility Across Diverse and Changing Data
Obstacles to accessing accurate and timely information can have a lasting impact on the performance and bottom line of an organization.

By integrating Xcelsius with Endeca’s platform, Endeca combines familiar data visualizations with the Guided Navigation® experience for analytics-intensive search applications. Rather than relying on IT, or teams of analysts to produce static reports, customers can extend the value of existing IT investments with interactive visualization. Customers gain access to highly customizable and interactive views at any intersection in the data, providing a holistic understanding of the context around a particular decision.

By integrating SAP BusinessObjects Intelligent Search with the Endeca platform, Endeca provides customers with a single point of access to multiple sources, including secured sources which cannot be indexed, open sources on the public Web, and multiple Endeca search applications. For customers – including the Intelligence community – with multiple search applications in different parts of the organization, this integration gives them a single point of access to all that information and guidance in determining which search applications matter most to the decision at hand.

“No company better understands the importance of enterprise data to today’s information-centric businesses than SAP,” said Bob Hoyt, senior vice president of strategic alliances, Endeca. “Our collaboration will open new doors and accelerate the realization of our vision to arm all knowledge workers with the critical enterprise data they need to inform daily decision-making, regardless of source or format. We are thrilled to partner with SAP to provide our customers with best-in-class tools that leverage the extensibility of our platform to more effectively and efficiently build search applications.”
