GHX Selects Endeca Latitude to Help Identify Opportunities for Hospitals to Increase Electronic Purchasing through GHX
BALTIMORE, Md. and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., -- May 17, 2005 -- Endeca, the leading provider of Guided Navigation®, Search and Analysis solutions, announced today that Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX) has selected and deployed the Endeca Latitude™ information access and analysis solution. The announcement was made at The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) World Conference, a data warehousing and business intelligence show being held in Baltimore, Maryland. GHX is using Endeca Latitude to identify opportunities for hospitals and other healthcare providers to increase the amount of purchasing they are transacting electronically with suppliers through GHX. The intuitive functionality of Endeca Latitude enables GHX sales and professional services staff to perform ad-hoc queries and analysis without the need for extensive training or individual seat licenses as required by typical business intelligence tools.
GHX increases efficiencies across the entire healthcare supply chain by connecting trading partners electronically and providing products and services that automate supply chain processes and reduce errors through buyer-seller data synchronization. Participating hospitals and suppliers can maximize the value of GHX services by increasing the percentage of their purchasing conducted electronically. GHX staff will use Endeca Latitude to compare how much purchasing a hospital is actually conducting with a particular supplier through GHX to the total amount of business it conducts with that supplier. Such analysis will suggest additional business that a hospital could drive through the GHX exchange.
"With Endeca Latitude, we have the ability to create customer-specific queries on a moment’s notice and immediately identify where GHX can bring value to a new or existing client," said Patrick McCarthy, GHX Vice President of Professional Services.
Charlie Brown, Senior Software Engineer, GHX adds, "Our account teams now love how easy Endeca tools are to use. More importantly, they have access to data that other tools have not been able to provide before."
Endeca Latitude gives users the unprecedented ability to quickly and easily explore, drill into and analyze information from multiple data and content silos using all of the attributes and dimensions of the data. Featuring Endeca’s patent-pending Guided Navigation interface, users can aggregate, slice, dice, navigate and pivot highly dimensional business data. This enables users to create their own custom reports, rather than having to rely on information technology specialists or other analysts to provide the data. At the heart of Latitude is the Endeca Navigation Engine, a meta-relational index designed for high performance information retrieval -- providing sub-second, interactive performance on millions of records without the need for OLAP cubes, thus reducing administration costs related to databases and OLAP engines.
"Most workers are faced with a choice when it comes to access and analysis of critical business and customer data: Make do with spreadsheets and canned reports or learn complicated yet powerful BI tools," said Jim Baum, president and CEO of Endeca. "As GHX has proved with their successful deployment of Endeca Latitude, what’s needed is a new approach that combines power with simplicity."
